My instincts always told me video games were good for something :) Researchers from the Beckman Institute, (Department of Psychology, University of Illinois) found some really interesting things regarding the performance of expert action video game players in 4 key areas.

Here are 4 findings that might give gamers an edge in the digital arena:

  1. Experts could track objects moving at greater speeds

  2. Better detected changes to objects stored in visual short-term memory
  3. Switched more quickly from one task to another,
  4. Mentally rotated objects more efficiently.
